World Radioulnar Synostosis Awareness Day celebrated at Children Orthopaedic care institute on 24 th August.

Radioulnar Synostosis is a rare bone defect in which both bones of forearm ( upper limb) are fused since birth. As bones are not separated it becomes difficult to perform hand movements.

World Radioulnar Synostosis Awareness Day celebrated at Children Orthopaedic care institute on 24 th August.

Child with this condition faces difficulty in performing many acts like washing face, holding objects, having food , writing and other day to day activities. Due to lack of awareness about treatment available for this defect many children are left untreated. The first successful surgical method for this defect has been described by Dr Viraj Shingade and his team. More than 200 such kids have been operated successfully by him. An international forum of parents and children with congenital radioulnar Synostosis has been formed to create awareness about treatment available for this rare bone defect.
